Shibumi Aikikai Library Information

To improve, explore or enhance the experience of Aikido a club library has been established.  The library consists of books, video tapes, and other material that may be of benefit to the students.  The library contains items that Shibumi Aikikai has purchased and those loaned to Shibumi .Anyone can loan materials to the Shibumi library with the understanding that Shibumi will try to take good care of these items. At any time the original owners of the items can request them back. Please see the list below for the material currently available. This list will grow as we acquire additional material.

Borrowing Procedure

A current list of library materials is always in the attendance binder. Simply chose and ask the Director of Education to bring in the item.

Members of Shibumi can only start borrowing once they have attended 10 classes or more (i.e. Are eligible for weapons class). Borrowers must also be a paid up member of Shibumi in good standingIf in the regular course of library usage, items get lost or stolen, they will be replaced if there is great enough demand.

If the borrower is late in returning library materials a late fee of $0.50 per class late is charged. The money collected in late fees is put towards the library costs above the allocated amount in the budget.

Acquiring New Materials

Suggestions of new material to acquire for the library can be presented to the Director of Education. The director of Education can acquire new material that contributes to the library’s ability to improve, explore or enhance the experience of Aikido.

Replacing Lost Materials

Material in the library that is accidentally lost or destroyed is  replaced using the allotted replacement resources.  If someone deliberately destroys items in the library, they will be responsible for replacing them at their own cost.  If the item was loaned to the library (i.e. It belongs to someone else and not Shibumi), we will replace it with the same item or an equivalent one if possible.
