Larry Bieri Sensei, 6th dan Shido-in
Larry Bieri began his Aikido training in February, 1971 at the Aikido World Headquarters Dojo (Training Hall) in Tokyo, Japan, and continued there for over 16 years. When he returned to North America, he became a Certified Instructor (Shido-in) in the United States Aikido Federation which represents the main line of aikido as handed down directly from the founder of the art. He was promoted to 6th dan in January, 1998 by Yamada Yoshimitsu Shihan, head of the U.S.A.F.
While in Japan, he also studied a number of traditional, pre-modern martial
traditions which preserve the various weapons used by the warrior
caste ("samurai") and have histories tracing back hundreds of years.
Weapons studied include the sword, halberd, spear, staff, stick, short sword, and other
auxiliary weapons and skills. He also has many years experience in the ancient
Japanese art of the bow and arrow usually referred to as kyudo.
